We surprised this nocturnal critter when we pulled in our driveway. What is it? A fisher cat? Brown skunk? Werewolf?

Tree stump?
A tree stump would be stationary. I’ve pulled into that drive a million times and never seen this guy before. Anybody got any other ideas?
A vampire?!?!
I don’t think so. At least I hope not.
A vampire wouldn’t have a stripe down his back and tail.
Maybe you’re right. It was dark outside with the moon up. Somebody knows the answer, I’m sure.
A fast-growing mushroom!
The little guy who makes the hole in your back yard?
Thanks for all these ideas. I didn’t know there were so many wildlife biologists around. But I’ve got a real problem — I don’t know if it’s safe to go to sleep.
I guess Maija will be a good guard dog. Or not.
Update. Just saw the critter tonight. Still there.
What is it?!?
